UAN or Universal Account Number is a Unique Identification Number which is 12 digit Number which is issued by the EPFO i.e. Employees Provident Fund Organization.
UAN is required to every individual who contributes in the EPF account. Access of the transactions of EPFO like balance check, PF transfer and PF withdrawals can be done through UAN.
An employee having UAN can check his PF and withdraw money from EPFO after linking of his PF with UAN.
It is allotted separately to each and individual employee. No two EFPO employee can have the same UAN.
Allotment of UAN makes easy to transfer PF balance in case of change of job.
Every employee can get UAN by visiting the UAN member portal.
Following are the steps to get UAN:
First, go to UAN portal https://unifiedportal.epfindia.gov.in/.
Thereafter clicks on the option “Registration in EPFO”.
Then one need to fill demographic details along with KYC details, active mobile number and bank account details.
One needs to upload a photo and a scanned image of his signature.
After filling all the details, an authorization pin will be sent to the registered mobile number which one needs to use to get one’s UAN online.
The above said process is provided to generate UAN but if it is already generated by employer then one need to follow the process given below:-
If UAN is already allotted then click on “Check Status” button on the UAN portal.
Then verification option will appear where one need to fill details like Name, DOB, and mobile number.
There one is asked to create password, then create password and then click on ‘Get PIN’.
The PIN will be sent to one’s registered mobile number which one need to enter it on the UAN portal and press submit button.
Then there comes direction on the portal to check status page again where UAN is printed.
This UAN details is also sent to mobile no. through SMS. Save the UAN for future transactions.
The details are sent to you via SMS too. Save the UAN for future use.
