Growth of Agriculture in India to Ensure GDP Growth

India is an Agrarian country and Agriculture plays vital role in the overall growth of the Indian Economy.

Income from farming and agriculture sector contributes largely in the GDP of India.

While the share of agriculture has been declining frequently for the last three decades.

To improve income from farming, the Government has adopted various treads in Agriculture.

As the Government is innovating additional milk processing infrastructure with aim to double the income from dairy farmers by 2022 and to face up the future challenges.

India remains the largest supplier of Milk in the world and retains its worldwide position by increasing production of milk to 163.7 million tonnes in 2016-17.

The Government has to step up towards fastest technology to achieve the target of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022.

With a view to facilitate farming, the Department of Animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries is preparing for National Action Plan Vision 2022.

The Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that the Plan stimulates to build additional milk processing infrastructure for processing additional volume of milk expected on account of higher production and meeting the increased demand for value-added products.

Due to Government’s efforts, the Cotton production is also expected to increase to 377 lakh bales during the current year 2017-18, from 345 lakh bales.

Due to increase in cotton production the cotton export will also be going up in the current year 2017-18.

The Government has to implement various plans to promote Dairy farming, cotton procurement and other agriculture products.

In the coming budget, steps are required to be taken to ensure overall growth in agriculture sector.
