Preference of Agri and Infrastructure Investment in Budget 2018: Gadkari

The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the Agriculture and Infrastructure will be the priorities of Union Budget 2018 to achieve the targeted growth of country with in appropriate time.  The Minister said there comes significant changes in the economical growth of the country after structural reforms by demonetizations and incorporation of GST.

The direct tax collection has also gone up in comparison to last year collection and Government borrowings has been less by Rs.30,000 crore than what was anticipated and fiscal deficits of the country has been manageable.

The ministry is hoping that the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will give more primacy to agriculture and infrastructure investment in upcoming budget 2018.

The minister called the finance minister to give special attention to the agriculture to make true the vision of Modi Government to double the income of the agriculturists  by 2022. The minister emphasized on the promotion of investment in agriculture and infrastructure as he considered Infrastructure plays vital role towards the development of the country. He stressed on the demand of world class infrastructure in all spheres like water, power, transportation and communication for the country to attain all over development.

The Minister informed that his ministry has sanctioned Rs.1,00,000 Crore for irrigation purposes in draught affected areas of Maharashtra. His ministry has also increased annual budget to build up road projects from Rs. 40000 crore to Rs. 1,30,000 Crore and targeted a further increase of Rs.20000 crore till next year.

The Minister recommended to the State Government to adopt new means of transport through waterways. This will be the starting of new era for waterways transport in the country.
